I have spent the last hour studying the circuit diagrams again.

The only variant of of vehicle according to the circuit diagrams that shows an external speaker being connected, is the tourer. Both R75 and ZT-T. Clearly this is wrong, as there are several members with saloon cars, where the sounder is attached to the rear shelf. This is true even of my 04 ZT 190 which uses the sounder in the IPK, but also has a speaker fitted in the rear parcel shelf (Not used).

What I suspect is true, is that, regardless of which speaker system is used, IPK or external (Parcel shelf), the RLG (Red & Light Green Wire, Pin 8 from PDC) can feed either the IPK or parcel shelf speaker +ve and in the case of the rear speaker the ground is provided by pin 6 from the PDC controller B (Black Wire).

Could those members whose reverse parking sensors, have and use, the rear shelf speaker, working or not, please reply to this post, detailing the wire colours that are attached to the speaker itself.

Interesting topic with some useful information.

My V6 has rear parking sensors with the rear parcel shelf speaker.

Approx 4 years ago after getting a T4 session I noticed that I had a constant clicking sound from the rear shelf.

It was only a few days later I realised that the rear parking sensors were not working.
When I selected reverse the clicking started (not the usual single beep) but the clicking continued when moving forwards and would only stop if I switched off the engine and re started before moving off.

I tried a known working control unit and a set of sensors to no avail and finally gave up so I disconnected the system as I was fed up with the constant clicking from the rear shelf.
Could it be that it's just the shelf sounder that's given up ?

Have a look at the attachment chaps

Also with BMW Scan 1.4 it is possible to change the PDC unit from 4 to 8 sensors

I'm not sure how to read that scheme Brian. I don't know where to look to find the pin number from the big connector that also goes to the sounder in the shelf.
