Sounds like a huge effort and a lot of work. Well done! I don't have that sort of time on my hands to spend with things like this. Most minor projects end up taking me years as it is. Haven't a plan for POL this year - but who knows? (maybe I won't have to work next weekend!) If I do I'll be looking it for your tourer.

Outstanding! It takes a lot of time, effort, commitment and more importantly money, to undertake such a task. Hat's off to you Paul!

Well done mate.

Hopefully your journey to POL and back will be event free and you wont need to beat her with a branch at any point!

Have a good weekend!

I'm new here but I read up all from the beginning. I have to say that when the DVLA registered the car, I FELT JO AND FELT GOOD.

That is definitely prove of devotion and commitment for one to go this length in ensuring that the history is restored. Bowdown: Bowdown:

From a very tired scrap car which I saw leaving the yard in which it was found to seeing it today with its lovely leather interior and it's shiny ,straight panels this car is a credit to Paul and all his hard work , well done that man !

Thanks very much guys, those are very nice comments which make it all worthwhile But thanks must also go to Oxfordblue75 and Thomas75connie who both assisted in supplying various spare parts and Martyn at MSRE for the regular use of his ramp.

Equally, without the 'Early Tourers' thread which Allegroman started some years ago (thank you), I'd of probably just thought it was an early car and left it to become baked bean cans (albeit, very luxurious, high quality ones ).

Kh44nn - when you mention 'devotion & commitment', I wonder whether madness & insanity would of been a better description...

Went to the Cheddar meet today (not in the Tourer) and got talking with Stephen Fussell who had worked for Rover prior to their demise - needless to say, some very interesting model topics came up...

Whilst briefly discussing X702UOK, Stephen made a passing comment about the car probably having had the roof resprayed ? Now, only a few weeks ago, I'd removed the black plastic trim between the tailgate hinges to clean it for POL, only to notice a paint edge/run underneath indicating that work had been done at some point, but certainly not obvious from the outside due to the excellent quality of the now 15 year old paint finish.

Intrigued to know how Stephen could know about this, he explained that the first few Tourers that came down the production line all sustained damage to the rear of their roofs, as the track (where it went through a gap between buildings) was not initially repositioned to allow for the additional clearance required for the 'extra bit' at the back of a Tourer shell !

Have to say that it's great to gradually be piecing together the history of this car - thanks again Stephen

Excellent. I'm going to check mine to see if my roof has been resprayed. We need to see some more recent pictures.

Sorry for the delay Ravinder, been a busy week !

These were taken just after I'd cleaned it ready for POL & The National. Unfortunately, after the drive to up to Birmingham and then the snow on the Saturday, it didn't stay this clean for long

No it's not useless, it's a great insight to the trials and tribulations of these cars, and I just wish more people would share life at longbridge.
