Default Boing!!!!!!!!!!

Leaving the house at 5:35am this morning to take SWMBO to work, when
BOING!!!!, SCRAPE!!!!, RUMBLE!!!!, yup! you've guessed it!
front offside spring has snapped!

******!

That's my day gone completely down the toilet then!

I take it it's best to bo both springs at the same time, as i'm sure the other one is just waiting to go?

My OSF spring went on Saturday, I'm having both front springs replaced, as well as the drop links and strut top bearings.

May as well do the lot, it should improve the ride quality - I hope.

are the zt deisel springs beefier and therefore stronger than on the 75.

Default Broken Springs

It must be the season, a bit early for Spring! My sons Connie broke a front one yesterday too. The garage loaned him a new type Mini which he hated for the ride characteristics. He was glad to get back into his 'rolls royce' again.

All springs are prone to fracture but with MGR it seems disproportionately common.
The ZT and tourer springs are heavier guage (thicker) than the lighter 75 saloons but are not immune.

Corrosion is the problem

ha, unbelieveble, was on a short holiday last week in the Belgian Ardennen, car packed to drive home, had exactly the same. front spring broken. Had to call the Belgian AA. Arrived within 1 hour and made an emergency repair. So I could drive home. Car is now in garage for 2 new front springs.
