The French authorities have always been a little pedantic. They introduced a law a couple of years ago that you had to carry your yellow vest in the cab of your car, not the boot, they kept it quiet though, and it was only the ferry representative that mentioned it. If it wasn't in the cab, a €60 fine was payable , I was stopped 3 times in 4 trips just to check on this!! And it was only English cars they checked!

You can see the logic in this though ---- no point in getting run over walking round to the boot in the middle of the road !!!

This I know Colvert --- I was thinking more of a breakdown where you aren't able to get to the side of the road .. a collision maybe. Or more for the french car where you are sat on the wrong side !! When in France I am usually in a LHD car cos that's what the family drive :-)

You won't need one for a bike! If you don't fall over getting on it you're OK!

The logic become faded when you find out only the driver needs one, the passengers are only recommended. If you check all the requirements for the differing Euro countries, they are all different, no harmony at all, you need a Tourer just to take the kit you need!!

The test must been proven by French rules and needs a stamp NF, or a letter of the factory that the digital unit have done the test of the rules. As far as I know, no digital is legal in France at the moment because no one have this.

And not only GB cars they are after, Dutch also . . . .
