Average Speed Cameras otherwise known as SPECS
Hi folks. Thought I'd do a general good deed and remind everyone about SPECS. I've been a member of BTST ( beat the speed trap) for a good few years now. It's an organisation set up to help those who get caught speeding/ how not to get caught. They have developed the best camera detectors and recently tracking devices.
They have a section called 'Drive protect' and it has top notch solicitors/lawyers who get good results in quashing speding tickets. Reason for this thread is that one of the lawyers wrote to Adam ( the founder of BTST) regarding Average Speed Cameras. Below is what he had to say. Read and digest coz if you don't you WILL get done. I've just has a message from Matthew Coxall, our Motoring Lawyer. Rather than trying to re-write it, I'll just paste it below: ------------------------------ Hi Adam I think it would be useful to warn your clients about the increased use of average speed cameras. Historically they were used on motorway temporary speed limits. They are now being deployed on A Roads throughout England and Wales, most recently the A13 in East London. There is no doubt that these are the absolute most horrendous device known to man. SPECS are nearly impossible to get round and constantly sending NIP's to people who over step the margin. Please advise your clients that if entering an average speed camera area (and they are obvious) they should not exceed the speed limit at all. The camera WILL get them. They will get an NIP. In the Met that will be probable at any speed over. Elsewhere it will be anything over 10% plus 2 mph. Let's stop these devices from making money! Matthew |
