Default black smoke

Hi everyone i need your advice again !!! i dont really rev much past 2000 rpm when changing gears put today i went upto about 3000 in second and when i changed to third there was loads of black smoke is this normal or because i dont really rev the engine much has it caused a soot build up the car has done 130000

think thats your problem , you dont stretch its legs enough .... diesels need a good clear out . take it up the road or motorway, and give it a good thrash in 3rd and 4th gear , hold it at 3500 revs for a bit and watch all that smoke come out. my cdt dont smoke at all, as i give it a clear out every week ..... also when was it last serviced ? and pcv changed ? also check egr that will be blocked no doubt.

Is it easy to remove and clean the egr I am not really that good with the spanners and another small problem where abouts is it

The PCV will more than likely need changing to.
Its Another cause of smoke loss of power and much worse if left.
Jules Member on here has the replacement filters on here cheap.

I think I had the pcv changed about 12months ago if it's what I think it is ,is it like a sponge

You are on the wrong side, I know K/S I visit northfield fairly often which is not far from redditch both being south side..If you want a ride to redditch sometime I'll help with the egr. Let me know.
