Default Exhaust pipe size question

Hi everyone

I have had to change the rear part of my exhaust so i tracked one from a local motor factor they confirmed it was the correct one for my 190 zt-t so i chopped the old one off but now have found that the tube flare is way to small to fit it. Can any confirm what size pipe the 190 has and also the size of the 180/160 as i have a feeling that they have given me a 180 one.

Thanks

Alex

Sounds like they have given you one for a 160...it is about 3mm smaller...it doesn't sound a lot...but it is...

The 190 back box also incorporates a valve that operates at higher rpm.

The trouble with exhaust centre's is often they will just guess what will fit "cos we fit these regularly" not taking into account that whilst your car may look the same the model is different.

I've had problems in the past especially with the Activa a very similar experience to yours ended up with a real slanging match after after telling them when I took it in exactly what the car was and that the exhaust was completely different they tried to fit a standard one and failed.

They tried to charge me for the standard one they ruined trying to get it to fit - no chance

Makes you wonder how many members have botched exhausts fitted.

Russ

My original is showing signs of wear now.
May need replacing as outer skin on back box has gone.

Russ

That is a bit unfortunate as OEM are no longer available....how much difference does it really make?

Thanks John...I hope it isn't like several other exhausts they advertise which in reality they neither have nor can get!

Do you know if the 75 1.8T also has the same valve in the silencer? I'm going to have to replace mine and it seems to be a difficult problem if it does.
I checked at Kwikfit yesterday and they thought they could get the right box and fit it for £115 the same day.
The stainless place in Birmingham quoted £320, but with all of these if the silencer is a bit special they may be incorrect.
