Reading the BCM
Hi
Is there a scanner that will read the BCM (body control module) on a 2005 75 such as pin pointing which wheel as a abs problem. Regards Graham |

Hi Graham,
The ABS has its own ECU, integrated with the electro-mechanical modulator. It works on the CAN bus and communicates with the Engine Control Module not the Body Control Unit (this is according to RAVE). Have you ruled out the front wheels using the simple checks? Simon

Toaf will read your car without difficulty and pinpoint which is the offending corner. It believe it reads the ABS module rather than the Body Control Unit.
Link: Toaf - https://toaf.roverki.eu/index.php/en/ Toaf - ready to go cable: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174768878...1df6%7Ciid%3A1 Others are cheaper but require modification and even then don't always work as Hogweed will testify. I've bought from this seller and his cables do work. Regards |

The ABS module actually has its own diagnostic line that connects directly to the OBD socket.
The ECM also connects directly on another pin in the OBD along with the cruise control, airbag and Autobox ECU'S which share the same line All other ECU's are diagnosed via the instrument pack. Russ

Graham as you're not too far away from me, if you would like me to have a look and tell you where your problem lies, feel free to drop me a message.

Reading the BCM
Thanks for all the replies, what happened I heard a clicking from the o/s/f
wheel, put the car up on stands and drove it but the clicking didn't happen and silly me switched the engine off but left the key in the ign and started checking the wheel by hand and I turned the wheel backwards and that put the abs light on tried to remove the sensor but its solid so before removing the hub I'm going to run it and see if the light goes off which as happen on of my other cars I do have 4 Rover's 2 17 year old 75s / 26 year old P38a / 62 year old P4 80 Regards Graham |

Reading th bcm
Hi
Latest update went out in the 75 this morning and before I had traveled a mile the ABS light went off, so all ok and back to normal, so back to getting the P4 ready for the next show, at last weeks show I received a rosette for the condition of the car so that was nice. So thanks again for all the replies I love my Rovers 2 75s 1 P38a Range Rover 1 P4 80 Regards Graham |
