Holy thread resurrection Batman!
Reading through it again, with my own and other peoples' concerns about it, the VIN code interpretation shows too many ambiguities to be credible. I'll never understand why the MGR main dealer defaced the VIN plate on the B-post to 'hide' the model reference. My registration docs have it as Connoisseur, yet it has cloth seats. It has Connoisseur 7-spoke wheels but lacks certain other conni fittings. It has a dog's dinner of refinements/extras (hence the 'DD' Pack). I just keep schtumm.

2004 model year Connie's came with cloth seats due to the faclift. They may have changed back to leather for 2005 model year, not sure.

Guess I was lucky then. I don't like leather seats.

My early 04 plate connie had cloth seats as did all early facelifts as standard, I believe in early 2005 they went to leather as standard along with a few other extras?? Think its listed in the thread in Paul (Reebs) signature

Just did a check on the VIN decoder for our own MG ZTT, as we're having a new insurance quote - and model year was to be confirmed. Me believing we have a MY03 car, I now realise that we have a MY04 car..

However, my own incompetence aside for a minute, my reason for posting was the digit 9 in the VIN of our LHD 1.8T.

Suppose this means that "V" denotes 1800 petrol (turbo) manual LHD, rather than "U".

Thought I just share my discovery. We're all anoraks anyway, right?

Just checked my VIN for the hell of it. Thankfully, both markers on the car coincide, as does the V5 certificate however, I seem to have someone elses service book? Must have been mixed up at Atherstone Garage at some stage.
Anyone on here have VIN: SARRJXLEE2D254868 and want to know the history of the vehicle?

Mistakes do happen - the 1 and onlt time I ever had an HPI check carried out, it was on a ...Rover 213! Car looked nice but seller didnt, so I decided the check was needed.

Panick stations! VIN number not registered! Fake! Stolen! Ringer! Martian!

After much agro, it was accepted that this must simply have been an oversight by the manufacturor, and the correct VIN number was simply never registered correctly. Why nobody had noticed before then puzzled me, but there we go.
