In my case it would be silly cassock!.

it has come up before about the pm's being read and someone from the mods have always categorically denied they can get into them, so I believe this to be true and feel pm's are sacred from scrutiny.

A silly cassock! Its better to be called that, than a big girls blouse, which was used recently by BJ attacking JC in the House of Shame, not a big deal in the scheme of things.

Swear filter is too draconian, makes Mary Whitehouse seem like Chubby Brown!

Just to clarify, as a moderator I cannot get access to anyone's private messages.

To be honest I sometimes struggle to access my own lol

I would support the use of the filter in PM's. It is within the club jurisdiction and between members, so all club rules should apply. Otherwise language should have no boundaries. Of course, if one must use profanities there is the e-mail option.

It happened to me once. Only once as far as I can tell. Always tried to be clear if not to the point. I'd be mortified if I used a colloquialism that implied a rude word.

My mistake, to my shame, was to use the common name for a turf removed from a grassed area. Sad, but with an 'o'. That earned no less than 10 'naughty word' slaps across the bottom (hope that gets through). Somewhat harsh I thought. The filter must have been compiled by Mary Whitehouse. Now that surname has connotations to which I dare not refer.

Phew! It got through!

There are plenty of ways of fooling these Computers.

I am on another couple of forums and they have these filters switched off.

The site will be trawled very regularly in the background by bots on behalf of search engines like Google and software security companies etc.. The bots may not be as easy to fool as some might think and what they report back to their senders can and does have an effect on a site's online ranking and visibility in any search results. As well as being rendered pretty much invisible a site may also be blacklisted if the bots findings trigger the respective response. A bot will not likely be able to attach multiple meanings to words that have them but it might well be able to detect anomalies in the presentation of a word which are commonly used to circumvent a swear filter.
