Default Headlining interchangeability

Does anyone know if the pre and post 2002 headlining scan be swapped. rimmers list them separately and only have the later one

Can't see any obvious difference between my 2000 and 2005 saloons. The difference may be because the side curtain airbags on later cars need to deploy through the headlining edges above the front door windows and A-pillar and may need to be constructed or fixed a bit differently to allow that? Only guess-work. Should mean that later ones will fit earlier cars if the only reason.

I *think* thar cars without ITS head airbags have extra strengthening 'crash ribs' glued to the headlining, whereas those without ITS don't have anything. But I am not certain - but at least two basic headlining types exist, those with ribs and those without.

Not sure re facelifts but all the mk1 headliners Ive done (about 5 now)
have all been the same head lining boards.

Would that be cars with and without the side curtain airbags do you recall, (irrespective of pre-/post- facelift)?
