Retro fitting auto dim mirror

I've had a look but I don't seem able to find it.
Is there an idiots guide on how to retro fit an auto dimming mirror (no rain sensor). Its just that I have one to fit (thanks Corin) and am off work next week so it seems like the ideal time.
