Default Hub bearings - front and rear

110k on the car and very occasionally I can hear a slight rumbling around right-hand bends. I get the feeling that the near-side front bearing is on the way out. Is it necessary to purchase new or good 2nd hand hubs when replacing the bearings - or can any decent garage just press the old ones out and replace the bearings themselves?
Thinking of replacing all bearings whilst I'm (my garage) is at it, so any suggestions for good front/rear products would be gratefully received.

Cheers,
Karl.

Make sure its not tyre noise, changed my bearings made no difference keep in mind that the abs sensors seize in hub so add few £ to bill i would wait and see if it gets worse.

Thanks Steve. I'm pretty sure it's not tyre noise though - and I'm going to be replacing the brakes all round shortly anyway, so it's probably a good time to do the bearings too. Did you just press out the old bearings from your existing hubs?

Cheers,
Karl.

Yes i drove bearing out of hub without a press would'nt want to do it that way again rear are easy to do as they come in hub. I was convinced 1 of my bearings was shot even after 3 garages said it was tyre noise.

Rear hubs are easy - you just unbolt them.

Front hubs are harder - you can press them out, but they can be challenging sometimes. I paid £96 for a garage to do mine, and it took them a good couple of hours.

Yeah, maybe I should betray my instincts and just wait a while - bearings all round aren't exactly the cheapest items in the world to replace - especially if they turn out to be ok!

Can always replace them later if needs be, I guess.

Thanks for the info Steve.

Cheers,
Karl.

Thanks Jack. Yeah, I might just leave the bearings for another while and get the brakes sorted out first. If the (admittedly occasional) rumble gets worse, I'll bite the bullet and get the bearings replaced afterwards.

Cheers,
Karl.

Rear bearings are easy & cheap - if your sure its the bearings it might be worth doing it while the discs are off.

(personally I'd track it down to a corner first!)
