Default Air bag warning light

2003 Rover 75 CTDi. The air bag warning light is showing intermittently. Had a Saab 9-5 previously which had the same problem which was a loose connection under the seat but those connections under the seat on the Rover seem to be OK.
Suggestions would be very welcome.

Unplug the underseat connectors & apply some Vaseline to the pins. Then push them together a few times, should turn off the light.

I've had the same issue, all I've had to do is disconnect and reconnect several times to clean the contacts. They have been fine since. I did also use electrical contacts cleaner as well, I don't know if it helps or not though.

Good luck,
Rob

Many thanks. Guess I was lazy as I just waggled the connectors around a little. Will now have a go at doing the job properlY

I've just seen on another post https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=188109 that promotes a dab of vaseline on the female contacts as a way of preventing the issue recurring.

I left the whole plug sitting on the carpet after using contact cleaner and ACF50 on the pins. In my opinion, using the twist lock fitting under the seat allows the wires to bounce up and down (as they are unsupported) causing the intermittent air bag light fault. I had cleaned etc and replaced a couple of times before, only to have the fault return. Since leaving the cable sitting on the carpet, no further light faults.

I replaced the connectors with better quality waterproof ones and at the same time extended the wiring by about 6" to prevent the connector coming under tension if the seat was moved.
