Surely that would be dangerous with all the stresses that the body and wings have been through?

I would not knowingly fly in it myself given the choice, if the wife wants to go on holiday.......well thats another matter

Planes that are damaged or crashed never fly again. The strains and such like it would have gone through on impact would mean Boeing would never be able to sy if it was safe again or not.

I dare say some of the undamaged items on board will be used again though, the seats for one (as long as all the stains come out! )

AAIB have already classed the aircraft as written off.

Obviously if it was a real State or severe Structure Damage or Written off by AAIB it shouldn't fly again,
but there again the Spares will still end up on Something again there not meant to.

Bit like right off Cars and Cut and Shut, Should never happen, but it does with Tragic Consequences.

Some Foreign Airlines are not allowed in our Airspace or to Land at Certain Airports because they are Dangerous and Not even Serviced due to lack of Funds.
Not Most EU or US Companies of Course..........

I would imagine there is an aweful lot still to be done by the crash investigaters, and things are not as straight forward as many of us believe.

Sad though it may seem, it has to be treated with kid gloves until they find out exactly what caused the incedent. The main reason is of course so that steps can be taken to prevent it from occuring again, but an underlying reason will also be that whoever was responsable is going to be the target of the compensation claims......

But I did have a quiet chuckle to myself when I saw them moving it... International Rescue strikes again

Also, even thoug hthe plane as an entity is a write -off, would they want to recover as much of its parts as possible? There must be undamaged parts, perhaps electronics that can be removed, and then refurbished and re-used elsewhere?

I had read that Boeing had already claimed the tail unit, which along with anything else would get flown back to the USA and used on a new 777.

I imagine there is a certain amount of PR there too, would future passengers worry they were on the crashed 777 - so BA publicly scrap it, get as much income from its parts and everyone is happy? The railways do a similar thing, for example the locomotive that was propelling the train that crashed at Hatfield was the same one that was propelling the train that crashed at Great Heck. On both occasions it was nothing to do with the locomotive that the accidents happened, but its identity was readily available in the rail trade press - so when it was next through works for a scheduled overhaul it was given a new number - thereby "hiding" its unfortunate past from the public.
