Well, well, eight Marinas showed up and we had quite a nice mix of models and colours. Two TC's, one automatic, two saloons, six coupés, one Special and so on... and one trailer.
Pics here: http://jjsalo.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Morris%...uminen%202010/ The pale green Special saloon is a one-owner from new example with just 28,000 kms on the clock. A true time-warp car, the headrests were still in the boot in their original plastic packing and I wouldn't be surprised if the air in the spare tyre is British!

Col, will a Rover 2000 (P6) comfortably cruise at 70mph and what sort of mpg could you get? Would it be too much to expect a P6 (2000) for example to do a 200 mile motorway run at 70mph? The P4 sounds somewhat miffed if you sit at 70 mph for too long.

A P6 will cruise at 70 quite happily & a 2000SC manual can actually manage 30mpg but aim for mid to high 20s a 2200 is a nicer engine with a lot more grunt but slightly thirstier plus you wont get a tax exempt one, a good 2200TC will go as well as a V8 but dont expect much more than 20mpg |

Marina Memories
You know why they called it the Marina? The boot used to fill up with rain water.
When I was about 16 our next door neighbour had a brand new one in purple. Anyway my dad was in hospital and asked me to start his Ford Zephyr everyday to warm up the engine. In my excitement I turned her over but she was in gear, the big Zeph shot forward hitting the purple Marina. Thankfully it only broke the Marina's number plate due to the fact that the neighbour musn't have put the handbrake on, it did shoot forward by about 6ft. I'm guessing the neighbour has passed away now and I never owned up. Shame on me.....

I'm sure that the rover p6 was able to cruise at near 100 mph all day long or so they say.when I had mine I only ever hit 55mph as I was just cruising around I had a 2000 sc and the engine is a goodun just don't expect it to rip your head off. Also like mine you can find tax exempt ones also they have the old tape speedo ahh the memories

My P4 will apparantly do 100mph happily I am told that Rover IOE engines were designed with their optimum cruising speed to be flat out?! Dunno how true that is.. MOT on Saturday for the old lady.
