Hi Rob,

That's central locking, as activated by the button on the centre console. "Superlocking", using the remote handset, disables the interior door handles; see Pete's post no. 14:

I prefer to observe MG Rover's term "superlocking" because the doors aren't deadlocked in the normal sense of the word, i.e. there is no bolt physically inserted into the door frame.

I think the handbook says never deadlock the doors with anybody in the car as it becomes impossible to open the doors with the inside door handle.----
