Default Headlights Blown / Water in Footwell (Car Wash)

For fear of repeating something that often gets posted by a few who don't search the forum, I have a feeling this is different, so I thought it would be an idea to post it.

The last two times I went to the car wash, there was water in the driver's side footwell, in our RHD ZT. After the second visit, the headlights stopped working on normal beam. I have sidelights and full beam; the result of a quick check on my own, so it might only be one side. Having checked the fuses, I moved on and removed the right bulb, to find it had disintegrated. I have not checked the left side yet.

There is no sign of water when it rains and there is no sunroof. I'll obviously continue to go through the various posts I have found so far, but suggestions where this combination has been posted would be helpful, if it exists.

Note: the windscreen scuttle panel/outer grille is broken at both ends and about 5cm is missing at one end. This was thanks to a garage we used to use and who refuse to replace it. We have owned the car for 2 years and have changed headlight bulbs 4 times. Not Xenon.

Cheers.

When you say the bulb 'disintegrated' do you mean the whole bulb (the glass envelope) or just the bulb internals? I agree that you should check the plenum as a matter of urgency if not already done.

I'll have a look, but I had expected to have this problem when it rains as well. It was dark last night, so it was difficult. As the car wash uses water under pressure, I was beginning to think of some other problem. The bulb was in pieces, as I found it.

You could possibly get a used scuttle panel from one of the dealers on here.
Good luck and as said...plenum check.
Ken.

Default Headlights Blown / Water in Footwell (Car Wash)

The results are in :-)

First things first. There was of course a lot of water in the famous place, but it appears as if the replacement windscreen was not fitted correctly. We let the water out from beneath and did not remove the scuttle. A total of four bulbs had gone, one of which had been replaced two weeks ago. If the screen is still under guarantee, is not clear, but I shall be looking into it. Note: the screen had to be replaced, after the mirror fell off and took a chunk of glass with it.

Mobile phone images.

The reason why the bumper had to be removed, was because there were complications, getting to the bulbs. The clips holding the bulbs were bent and jammed.
