I have one of these 150 lumens = Very Bright and a strong Beam

I've had this for a few years - and if used with Varta batteries you will have no power issues

I've left this Overnight in an attic with the power on - and still had plenty use from the Batteries - I've never actually ran out of power - I buy a box of 20 Varta Industrial batteries for around £10 - which will be a Good few years supply

To describe 'brightness' you have to compare it with something familiar, like a 40watt bulb for example. Most people have a good idea of how bright that is. So, this Wikipedia chart will give you a rough idea when you try to imagine 'Lumens'.

Remember these values are total outputs and a light bulb and a torch send their output out in different ways. The bulb emits spherical illumination whereas the torch gives you a beam. Concentrate the light bulb's output into a beam and it will be brighter than your 75 lumen torch.

woosh, this has gone over my head. I get the bit about a beam being better and it is indeed a beam I want and I understand about a 40w bulb.
but how bright is 75 lumens ? perhaps i'll need to buy the torch to test and send back if no good

Simple answer. Not as bright as you'd like.

Found this on Google:

One lumen is approximately equal to the amount of light put out by one birthday candle that's one foot away from you. To help you get an idea of the lumen scale, a standard 60-watt bulb puts out around 750-850 lumens of light.

78 Lumens is not that bright really. I bought one from GO Outdoors with 800 lumens which is just perfect for ghost hunting

I assume you've Never Used Varta Industrial Batteries

Most Rechargeable batteries won't hold a charge for long - It's been about 1 year since i changed batteries - my torch is here working great

You can usually tell the "not so good" LED torches, as instead of one or a couple of very good high output LEDs, they have lots of cheap weedy ones to up the light output.

And nope, 78 Lumens is not very bright really.
