Default mg ztt clutch replacement

my mg ztt cdi has just started to slip mits clutch at high revs, and is obviously on its way out - i have been quoted £250 plus vat for clutch and slave cylinder and £300 plus vat for 6 to 7 hours labour which doesnt seem too bad
i have been advised to replace the flywheel as well for an extra £400 which seems a bit excessive and unnecessary - what do members think?, j

I bought a genuine OEM clutch for £83 http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/clutch-g...070-p-440.htmland a slave cyl for £50 from the same place.

My local (trusted) mechanic fitted it for £130.

I understand that the DMF doesn't need changing unless there is in excess of 35mm play which is unusual. My DMF had a cracked surface due to the old clutch being totally burnt away so I got a used one off Ebay for £75.

£340 total

i take it that the clutch is the same unit as found on certain land rovers then, as is the slave cylinder?

Freelander TD4 - a lot of the parts are interchangeable.

I always take a look on Land Rover parts sites when looking for parts for the engine. They are quite often cheaper.

Yeah it's the same engine so a lot of bits are the same - plus there are still BMW/LandRover dealers stocking them.

The pipe on the slave cylinder is a slightly different shape but is easily bent to match the old one.

Make sure you get it done at a MG/Rover specialist,as some garages do not know what's involved in this job,I speak from experience
