Default MG ZT diesel 2.0 .. Weird noise?!

I have recently purchased an MG ZT 2.0L Diesel '03 plate..
Every now and then i hear a weird noise coming from somewhere in/out of the car.. Its kind of a 'WHOOOOSH' noise.. sounds like an animal is in the car or stuck under the bonnet..

Any ideas on what this might be?

Does it sound like a whale whoooping? and when it happens are you in standing traffic, or doing less than 30mph with the Aircon switched on?

Try pressing the ECON button and the ECON light will elluminate on the ventilation display if it stops the noise it prob- means your air con fan needs attention

This is a common fault to do with the aircon generally a re-gas cures it. Certainly did with mine.

I would check to see if the cooling fan is working first in that case, put the Aircon on demist, look at the front of the car is the fan going round? if not, then you have a duff fan.

I believe, if you continue to run with the Aircon switched on while stood or below about 30mph, you could damage the aircon system.

Simon if the fan runs on demist & not on Air con does that mean the
resistor needs replacing

Couldnt tell you, all I know is my fan doesnt work at all, never has (its on the job to do list), so I dont know if its the motor or resistor,

The aircon works perfect when I am travelling at speed, but if stood, I get a whooping noise (that scared the bejesus out of me when I heard it)

Sorry cant help with fix as I am missing that knowledge myself at the moment

I also have just bought a MG ZT CDTi to complement the 190 and have a noise like a small whale or air blowing down a tube, when I lift off the accelerator. At first I thought it was something to do with changing gear but then realised it whenever I lift off the accelerator. It's mainly noticeable at lowish speeds but may still be doing at higher speeds but not be so noticeable

It happens whether the air con is on or off.

Any ideas what this could be?

Mark
