Default ABS ring required

Hi all,

As above. Have a problem with the ABS cutting in, not all the time though.

Had a backplate disintegrate, then the problem I have followed. Local garage at a complete loss a to what was what, telling me that their computer software is unable to read the ZT as it is too old!! I have not had any lights come up on the dash, just the brake pedal banging away now and again.

Cut a long one short, a tried and trusted, 'old skool' mechanic was sourced and his findings concluded with what I had found doing a search on the forum here, that some of the splines on the front offside abs ring have been damaged and needs replacing.

However, I have so far drawn a blank as to where I can locate said item. Backplates, no problem have ordered them already.

Has anybody out there got a lead as to where I can purchase one of these please?

As always, thanks in advance for any replies.

Regards,

Dave.

As far as I was aware it is part of the wheel bearing on our cars. You have to change the whole thing.

Spot on Dawn, once a new backplate and bearing are fitted, the abs kicking in at low speed will disappear.

Thanks both, much appreciated.

Found with DMGRS. Should have realised it was a complete item, not a separate part. I'll go and sit in the corner for a bit!!!!

Dave.

The ABS wheel reluctor ring is an integral part of the wheel bearing. You can't replace it separately. If you have ABS reluctor problems, you must fit a new bearing. Not easy for front hubs. Most DIYers seem to relace the complete swivel hub.

TC - the slow typer.

Worth noting that with the aftermarket bearings the reluctor rings pop off, so if you replace a failed bearing you can keep the reluctor ring as a spare just in case.
