Bonjour messieurs (isn't it amazing what you can remember from school 56 years ago )
Nice bright and sunny morning here, but a tad on the cool side. An idle day for me I think - nothing to arduous to do - apart from making an appointment for a check up at the dentist.

We had a holiday in France a few years ago. I was surprised how much of my "O" level French (which I failed!) came back to me.

Good afternoon from a sunny London. I had to learn French, Spanish, German and Swahili for work and pleasure. I am back now from the Monday walking group for over 60s. The oldest is 83. I was the only man in the group today Freebryd Brian was in a similar group RIP

I did French and German at school . . . . discovered I didn't have a flare for languages but I can get the gist of a French conversation, up to a point. As for German . . . . I can only remember odd words but for some reason the phrase "das spiegelei ist in der pfanne" stuck in my mind, "the fried egg is in the frying pan" . . . . I can't honestly think of a situation where that phrase would be useful unless someone in the kitchen loses an egg!

Evening all, by heck it's gone cold now the sun has gone down, not that there was any warmth in it through the day.

Having Italian tea tonight! some posh pasta & meatballs ( al forno) that comes in a wooden box that you bung in the oven and some garlic bread. Gotta say it was very nice indeed.

Never did any foreign languages at school, we were probably deemed to thick to try there was very little English spoken either as Lanky slang was the order of the day.
