Anyone any other ideas on this ? it is doing my head in now, I don't know what to do.
It doesn't seem to matter where the stepper motor is set to, it still stalls and smells rich.

To recap, lambda changed, MAP changed, ECU coolant temp sensor changed, IACV changed, T4 doesn't show anything out of value.

It has to be a sensor issue, It if fine when I first start it in the morning, it starts playing up after 30 odd seconds.

All ideas welcome.

Pete.

It's a pity you're so far away, you could borrow the ECU off my ZS as I'm still trying to sell the car at the moment!

New ECU didn't do anything for my problem, though admittedly there were other things wrong when it was installed...

Have you checked the plugs for oil contamination, check the cam carrier for oil leaks. I've read similar symptoms which turned out to be oil leaking into the spark plug recess.

plugs, both coil packs and ht leads are new, and made no difference.

No oil leak.

Everything else seems to have been swapped and checked.

True, apart from injectors, the second lambda, (don't know what it does) and the engine :-)

Do these engines suffer from sticking valves ? I'm searching nearly al day for a reason and I'm finding a lot of K series cars that have the same problem and some have been cured by "decoking" the cylinder head and valves.

I replaced the head gasket about a year ago and it didn't need cleaning.

Pete.

Thinking about it, when it stalls and I go to restart it, the engines does crank over as though there is no compression !!! spins fast
