Blown Bulb
Just on the offchance other members have the same problem.
Every now and again my parking bulb came up as blown. Then after a while the warning light will go out. Then a few days later it will come on again doing the same again. This has stopped for a while but now my brake light bulb is coming up blown. This goes out after a while after braking. Has any members been having the same problems? Anyone any idea what the problem is?

Mine flashed up a couple of errors a couple of days ago, abs, then a blown parking light, after switching off and restarting all was fine. I put it down to lack of use especially in damp weather as there times when the car can stand for 2 or 3 days without use.
Guessing in your case that when braking, subsequently making/breaking the connection you clear any oxidation. Regards |

I had something similar. It turned out to be some lightly corroded pins in the connector to the light switch module.
Easy to get at and I sprayed the pins with WD 40 quite a few years ago now, and since then had no more problems.-- |

A thought. A failed tail light (parking light?) is automatically compensated for by switching on the corresponding brake light and operating it at half power. So, there's a tenuous connection between your blown bulb warning and braking. Maybe the rear light bulb has failed and now the brake bulb is on the blink. Corrosion/damp in the bulb holders may be the underlying cause. TC |

Driving home tonight I had a symbol like a beetle come up on the dash. Some words too but they vanished before I could read them and the beetle thing lit up again.---
Anyway, after switching the engine off at home and switching it on again the words came up for a bit longer. It said rear left hand stop light bulb had blown so that's the job for tomorrow.-- Hope you find your problem. |
