Pete, That is what I tried to do in the closed thread and I was told it was impossible, I even E-mailed a copy of my BCU Backup to Marcin and as yet have had no reply. Now I know it's not going to effect your car but it's still a bug. So if there is a problem in the software that can cause a bug how is it going to be rectified if the Toaf designers don't even take on board what you say?

If (hypothetically) a person used toaf, then say a system on the car failed due to a simple unseen program glitch, then was an accident.... Where are you left legally?

Not saying this will happen, but are the toaf developers insured, is the software backed up with any certification? We all know what lawyers and insurance companies can be like when it comes to wriggling out of a claim..

The reason I prefer and more importantly trust T4 is it has already been tested to death... And proved

I follow 2 rules.... Never buy cheap brakes, and never buy budget tyres... Why should you put such faith in perhaps well intentioned, but untested software that talks to your ecu,abs and srs systems...
I agree Pete.
Toaf is a good tool but in the hands of someone that doesn't know really what they are doing they could mess things up.
I have said all along that you must always do a backup before you alter anything. If something gets messed up then do a restore and if restore doesn't work contact Toaf on the website and put the ball into their court.

Regarding cheap brakes and tyres Pete, lets not forget our cars are 11 years out of production, OEM spares are getting harder by the day, so much now comes in from China in greatly varying degrees of quality, the vast majority of tyres come from China and often quality makes are made in the same factories as the budgets, on the same machines and by the same operators, so we have little control over that.

In 45 years of driving and just as long fixing cars what is on offer these days for parts is diabolical in some instances.

There was a little misunderstood, Marcin and I thought that without password is impossible . That's why we asked you for how to, your step by step is unconventional so probably that's why Marcin didn't tested it in that way.

This is bug but with benefit to users and doesn't affect other functions,

We have to remember that toaf Is written by one man, not a big company like omitec or hp, with hordes of specialist, and thru almost 16 years everybody says that this is impossible to change bcu settings without t4

All this talk of bugs (not the good bug that`s just been discovered) and incomplete TOAF Etc, remember it is free, you use it at your own risk. All the Polish guys have to do is say that, it`s not a big deal if it has a couple of bugs and the best way to find these is by more people using the program.
Anyone with a computer will have seen thousands of well know programs released in Beta Version, you can install it and try it and then report any bugs or defects you find, TOAF is no different, it states on the site that it is still being developed.
In TOAF threads certain people are crying about this and that, the subject then flies off topic and threads get closed.
If you are not interested in TOAF, if you have no intention of using it or have only negative words about it, I think you should keep quiet and keep away.
On a lighter note I think someone should design a window sticker saying "I love TOAF"
Ken.

It's all a bit like headlights that have been modified from their E mark specifications, or instrument panels that do not conform to the law.

Stop banging the drum.

Is there any chance TOAF can be amended so that it will work with the later cars with the MEMS3 engine ECU? (1.8T in particular)
