Sorry for starting a new thread but I don't want to tack this onto another!!
I bought this lead: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121774213392?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageNa me=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Tried it out of the packing. Red light comes on and connects to TOAF. Says its scanning the car but doesn't seem to collect info. Red light then goes off. When I click on VIN, no number comes up. When I scan modules, nothing happens. I tried soldering pins 7 and 8 but makes no difference. I'm at my wits' end. Any suggestions - maybe its the wrong lead? Did I read somewhere that TOAF doesn't work with some 1.8 ECUs??? I cannot get engine ecu information from any 1.8 I have connected, but every other ecu works fine.

It's the lead our friends in Poland recommend! Am definitely connecting to the correct port. Looks like those of us with the 1.8 engine are stuffed!!!!

My 1.8 works fine with TOAF. Have you downloaded and installed the drivers correctly? I had to use a different USB port on my laptop. It didn't like the first one I tried for some reason but connected to a different port straight away. It showed as COM 8 on TOAF list.

Apparently it's the 1.8s with a MEMS3 ecu that it doesn't work with (according to Phil T4). I think it might only have been fitted to the turbocharged engine!!

I may stand corrected but isn't this lead the one that needs a little utility to switch between k and can ?
Little ch30 based cheapo vag kkl does the job as I got bored fiddlling with that one and gave to my Russian BMW driving colleague instead. |
