Ah yes, longer86 has summed the situation perfectly when he says:

I don't want just drive and repair car, I wanted to play with Rover... I wanted to take control over my car, I would know it to the last bolt... No mysteries and secrets...

Isn't this exactly the point, some of us actually want to "own" our cars, not just drive them. It's a bit like renting you're home, so long as you pay the rent, you can live there as long as you want, but if you want to change the colour of the door or Windows, you have to ask the landlords permission

Have you worked out what is making the sidelights stop working?

Front parking lights / sidelights.

Not main beam, not dipped beam, not fog lights, not indicators.

I found that if you tried dimmed front indicators, nothing happened, except the front sidelights stopped working and nothing would bring them back on.

Maybe this option logic is reversed, try one more time to switch on and of, or use backup

I did try to restore from a backup, but it wouldn't restore the correct operation.

I had to use T4 to restore correct functionality.

Very strange, I didn't meet with problem like this,
Did sidelights not working at all or maybe works with switch 2 position...

Did you tried to turn dimmed indicator function on and then checked sidelights?

Sidelights will not come on, not as daytime running lights, not with the switch in either position. But the tail lights are still working as they should.

If I change a LSM dealer option in T4 the correct coding is rewritten and normal operation is back.
