How many miles, double it
I had a "30 second" conversation with a taxi driver of a Silver Facelift Tourer. I asked how many miles but he said guess, so my guess was 220,000.
His reply, double it. He knew the car was a diesel but that's about it spec wise. He did say original engine and gearbox but we never got as far as clutch parts That's one solid engine he has but the car must be worth tupence with that mileage macafee2 |

The highest mileage taxi I've seen was almost at the 600,000 mark, and had never had anything other than oil changes to the engine. It had IIRC seven clutches and one gearbox, but the injectors had never been out of the car. Brian |

I've seen 2 at over 430,000, both on original engines & running sweetly.

Has it ever had a new timing chain? It is one of the things I am hoping not to need to replace on mine!

There are two timing chains - mine are still fine at 397k miles, so I wouldn't worry.

does not use oil and still moves a great pace when needed, I have another tourer in my garage , rare one a Cimmerron green Tourer CDTI auto Conny SE, low miles, i mothballed it, its coming out next spring into daily service only got 60,000 miles on it, bought in on 29000 miles. its extremely rare in that colour with sandstone interior leather and wooden steering wheel, i read only 161 were ever built in that colour on the tourers and only 19 with sandstone interior. LOVELY!! |
