My new toy :)
I just got my new shiny Wacom Intuos 3 SE A5 wide graphics tablet Here's a shot showing the size of it on my desk. Its bigger than I thought it would be, but I still can't believe people buy A3 versions - they must have enormous desks! |

I thought that might come up! It's a graphics tablet that you use instead of a mouse when using graphics software like Photoshop. It allows you to draw on the surface with a virtual pen if that makes any sense! I use it for Photoshop and for digital sculpture in Zbrush.
Its possible to do things like this with them: Photoshop example ZBrush example It has to be said I can't do that level of quality things though!

Good to see one being used. I haven't used mine for ages, not sure why because they're great tools.

Yep they are really great. I had a tablet made by Trust which pales in comparison to the Wacom. I don't believe that they've changed much over the years except become more sensitive by using higher dpi. I'm in final year of uni doing computer games design which for me involves creating 3d models and then texturing them. In my placement year I spent a year with a Wacom and just couldn't go back to the Trust unit!

Hmmm, may get one for work.
I work in GIS I reckon one of these would be very useful. |

Go on Eddy confess, you cleared up your desktop before you took the picture didn’t you?, but I’m glad to see your cables under the desk are as bad as mine!
I’ve had a Wacom for a couple of years now but don’t use it as much as I should. |

The Wacom's been brilliant so far, I just hope I'll still be using it when I leave uni. Quote:

A GIS is a Geographic Information Sytem,
it is an information system for capturing, storing, analyzing, managing and presenting data which is spatially referenced (linked to location). |
