Default Outlook Express (incoming) problem.

I've got a problem developed with Outlook Express in that I can send mail but not receive incoming mail.I'm using Windows XP.

The receiving mail icon indicates but it then times out with the green bar stopping one space from the end,i then get an error message (no 0x800CC0F)

Any Ideas please?

I'm replacing the pc early April but it would be nice to resolve this in the meantime.

I can't see any cost involved to download the above repair tools, buyt as I don't use OE I cannot actually test it.

More solutions here-

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Have you changed your ISP, if so you may need to arrange a proxy server in tools menu,
if not you could adjust the time-out settings and that may resolve the issue, or take a look at similar previous problems on this Google link:

The download/scan is free Harry but you then need to purchase a license key to activate the repairs,a bit misleading really.

Who provides your mail? I would say it's most likely that they have changed the configuration of their servers at some point and that Outlook is now not talking to the correct incoming (POP3) server.
Usually I would advise talking to your mail provider (or ISP) to ask them for help.

Ok it's resolved,I can't explain it but this is what happened.

I was able to sign into my account with my bt email address and password using yahoo mail (bt mail also uses yahoo). There were 19 unread messages !!
I worked my way through these, saving just 2 in the yahoo mail inbox,I then closed yahoo and these 2 mails were somehow forwarded on into my Outlook Express inbox and all has been well on both send and receive since.

I've had it suggested that one of those 19 messages had probably corrupted/blocked OE ( incoming) and in deleting it,it had cleared the fault.

Very very strange, what do you think?
