Default A scary moment

Well, just had a very sticky moment coming home. A red Octavia came hooning towards me well over to my side of the road, I moved over to avoid him, heard an almighty BANG! and my car now has 2 shredded tyres and the N/S alloys are a right mess. managed to pull in and change the back wheel once I'd stopped shaking. Front tyre still had some air in it thankfully. I had caught a jagged bit of rock sticking out of the soft verge.

Limped the last 3 miles home at 10 MPH with the hazards on. 2 new tyres and 2 wheel refurbs now required. Luckily my local garage is 2 minutes walk from my house.

Just in time for the meet at Helensburgh Winter Festival on Sunday I have 2 very scarred and second-hand looking wheels. Terriffic!

Lucky escape. Could have done with a dash camera to identify the idiot.

Very sorry to read this, Tim! Glad that you and the car are okay, for the most part! Hope you can get sorted out with a couple of tyres easily, and that the wheels can be revived! It's a horrible experience when you meet something heading towards you on the wrong side of the road.

Well firstly I am glad you are ok Tim, at least the wheels and tyres can be replaced, unlike your good self! There are too many morons out their who don't care who is around them.

I would put it down to a chance encounter and hope that you never encounter such lunacy again. The dash cam is a good idea though!

See you Sunday.

Definitely a very scary moment. I'm hoping there's no permanent damage. The annoying thing is, I'd just replaced the front drop links and sorted the clonking lower ball joint.

Watching a Mirage alloy on the 'bay ATM, just in case.

The main thing is you are okay.
I do feel for you as all these things seem to happen to me around Christmas aswell.

I'm sure your local tyre place will send you a Christmas card this year

Sorry to hear of this Tim, but as others have said thankfully it wasn't worse.

I've been looking into dashcams for a while myself - there is plenty of bad driving out there!

Sorry to hear this Tim. With your location you may recognise him again if you see him.

If it helps, I plan to visit my local scrappy tomorrow so if you need an alloy I can see what they have.

Well done that man for avoiding a collision with another car. Sorry to hear about the tyres, but much better than injury or a written off car!
