I used the "IPKChanger" software created by Phil-T4 to reset mine, worked a treat.

To reset an oil service use an opened out paper clip, turn on the ignition and short out pin 8 and 4 for 8 seconds, sounds iffy i know but it works.

Thank's for the info i did read somewhere or maybe was told at a Nano meet that they do not work on all the early cars ? 1 I have a couple but very rarely use them when i do a service, the interval an oil service on my T4 or as above using the IPK changer, depending what service is under taken at the time.

Up to 2000 OBD2 was the standard, though there weren't many diesels that could be read by the ' home ' reader.
EOBD came in, in 2000. In 2003 EOBD became mandatory also for diesel vehicles, I expect that previous to 2003 there would be compliant vehicles about due to manufacturers tooling up for 2003 and some, non compliant unsold stock post 2003, so during the crossover there could be some readable and some unreadable cars sold.

From memory, having performed services on these cars over many years, the reset was sometimes only possible after re-setting the inspection interval. This was on my plug-in device formed originally for BMW models, but also sold for use on the MGR product too. This may be of help, or worth a try.
