-25 degrees
A bit chilly over here this morning. -25 degrees, but the Rover started OK. I had it plugged in for a couple of hours before I set off and luckily I can have it plugged in att work as well.
Too bad I didn't get my heater matrix changed yet, booked in for next week. This was the coldest weather since I bought the Rover almost three years ago. Anyone here tried even colder?

I know, I was only jocking .
On the other hand, I have seen some 75s in the Middle East equipped with remote Air Conditionning start. The car engine is started and the A/C (which must be left on before switching the engine off) would start as well and begin cooling the car before driving it. In this process, the doors are locked, and no key in the ignition. Is it the same for electric preheating? (engine started and heater on? with no key in the ignition?)

Not sure if you're still joking majed ;-)
The electric preheating consists of a small electric heating element in the engines water jacket or in the bottom radiator hose. An hour or so is usually enough to heat up the engine so much that the temperature gauge moves out of the "stone cold" area when the ignition is turned on. I have also a 220V electrical socket in the passeneger footwell to which a small heater fan is connected, this is operated simultaneously with the engine's pre-heating, so no need to wipe the snow off the windows then. Not as effective as a Webasto, but cheaper to install and use and friendlier to the environment!

Thanks for the reply and the information Fille. I was not joking about the remote A/C start of cars in the Middle East. I have really seen a lot of them (most cars Japanese, US, Europeans) have those as a dealer installed option. My brother in law in Abu Dhabi has a Volvo XC90 and a BMW 530i and both have the remote start with A/C installed (temperatures usually reach 55 degrees C in summer and nearly 80 degrees C inside the cars ).
