So what is you car worth to you?
As our cars become less and less valuable...I guess we all have an annual price in out minds as to how much we would spend on our cars before deciding to sell/scrap them.
Personally I think £1500.00 per year on servicing and repairs (not including insurance, tax and fuel of course) is an acceptable amount of money to spend on a car that I like. What would you spend per year to keep your car on the road and to the standard you are happy with? Here is where we see those of us who think with our hearts and not our head :-)

To me, my car is quite simply priceless and I will spend whatever I can afford to keep her up to standard, regardless of market value.
I appreciate that it makes no financial sense to take this approach, but what the heck. I've invested a lot of time (and money) in the old girl and will never sell her. As for scrapping, it would only happen in the event of a major accident that damaged the car to the extent that a safe repair was not possible. I guess that means I'm thinking with my heart. Cliff

My 75 is worth a lot to me, as I'll be depending on it a huge amount in the next wee while, to get me everywhere I need to go, safely and reliably. I would struggle to get another one half as good for a price I'd be willing to pay!

It's worth nothing.
I paid a pittance for it (Cheers Ian), and it's given me nothing but trouble. I've never had a car that has left me stranded 3 times in the first year of ownership (intank pump, water pump, and a broken wire under the fuse box)................ but I like it, and due to the (insert appropriate word) who reversed into it, it hasn't cost me a penny as the insurance company paid out double the amount I paid for it. It cost me the princely sum of £50 to put the damage right (Cheers Cossie Dunc). I do my own repairs, and use scrap yard or 2nd hand parts. So apart from countless hours of my time, the car owes me absolutely nothing. So when things go pear shaped (as they often do ), I don't feel that I'm throwing good money after bad, and will buy whatever parts it needs - with the one proviso that I am capable of doing the repair myself. To date the forum has always come up trumps with its many "how to's", and freely given advice from other members. Cheers Chaps |

Can not afford new one evan if I wished so she has got to last. Someone else`s cast off could be equally as expensive especially if it was more modern.

My ZT's are like MasterCard (priceless) as I have a almost unlimited supply of parts that cost is very low
But I don't count the cost as all cars cost money, and it's what I enjoy driving that matters! I'm loyal to the brand that I grew up with just wish they was still active, and I'm not talking about Chinese MG's

When a car is bought, driven and sold, then it is worth what someone will pay.
When you change, customise, improve, personalise, upgrade, and generally put heart and soul into it, imperfections or no... I would not swap it for anything...
