I love Rimmers (and hate them!)
To be fair, for a 15 year old car where the original manufacturer went out of business some time ago, Rimmers in an awesome place to go and get the more unusual parts. One the face of it sometimes they look a really good deal as well. I have had a water ingress leak on my tourer for some time (subject of another thread), that required me to take off the finisher cover off the tailgate hinges. All the clips broke of course as they were completely rusted. Searched the bay of E for the part and any fasteners - no luck. Went to Rimmers and there they were! The finisher itself is down as £9.14 and the clips were £1.54 each (I needed 7). Quick sum in my head and I thought go on you can afford £20. I thought this looked a good price for a part that you cant get anywhere else.
So far so good. When I came to the totals page the sum comes out as £33.44!!! At first I thought their web page calculator had gone haywire, but no. I had been looking at the non VAT prices. Then their is a rather large shipping cost which also has VAT on it. Anyway I still bought them. Point is - Rimmers is a great place for the unusual MG/Rover parts, but it can strip your wallet bare. |

I think what is more amazing is the different range of vehicles their parts cover. They have yet to fail me for any part for my 45 year old Triumph, my 36 year old Rover SD1, or my slightly newer Jaguars. If you ever get an invite to their Open Days (usually Drive-it-day), they are well worth a visit.

I tend to use Rimmers as a reference but rarely buy from them. I get the part number then search for it on All Car Parts Fast site. Rarer stuff I look at Brown and Gammons.

Rimmer Bros are superb IMO. As above, they hold stock for our older vehicles, at relatively reasonable prices.
People need to remember that it's a business, not a charity! Building and grounds to pay for and maintain, staff to look after, insurance etc etc. I have used Endon services before as well, and they are also excellent, along with Brown and Gammons. I think owners are lucky to still have these suppliers. |

I agree with the OP.
I use rimmers for ref than go elsewhere because of their prices. Tonight I have bought a genuine OEM coolant hose for my project car from Brit car for half (Yes half!!!!!!) the price rimmers are selling it for. Same part number and both genuine. Why the 100% mark up when they are so well known.

I've never bought off Rimmers, mainly due to their prices. I always use DMGRS as my first port of call

I have bought from both, DMGR has some great stuff and good prices, and as im in Australia Ive had various experiences with shipping depending on the size of the item.
Rimmers are great also, usually a fraction dearer (I dont get VAT charged over here) but they will price match but there freight is ALWAYS very cheap and very fast which is great for my sort of distance. I might also add ,ive called Rimmers a number of times on the phone from here and always had friendly and correct advice given every time. |
