Also look at the cars Jules has sold. Strong money but you know the car has had all the right jobs done and should give good service.
Buy cheap, pay twice. My £500 1.8T is now nearer a £1500 car as I have had all the "right jobs" done in the last 3 years.

The bottom line is us "dealers" put our money where our mouth is. How many times did we see a for sale thread on here with all the run of the mill nonsense
"If only it wasn't so far away" "My wife would kill me" "My babysitters rabbit watchers dog ate my wallet😂" Why do you think the for sale ads are read only now We pay our money and take our chance Profit is not a dirty word

I cant stand car dealers, well at least 90% of them in the UK.
Bunch of morons, who add little to no value whatsoever. Infact I was looking at cars from VW dealers a year or so ago, and of course all the ones I was checking out at dealers were from auctions, as to be expected with the cars I was interested in. Whenever a "dealer" said "its awaiting preparation" I said OK thats me out, I would only buy a car off them if they promised not to touch it at all. Funny thing is I knew more about the cars than the cretins who were selling them, as the auction houses make their assessment of each car available online, and the service and repair history is all recorded with VW UK, so in reality, the dealer knows less about the car than me, which means in my case, they are adding nothing but their profit to the price, and more than likely poorly touching up any paint jobs that need doing, perhaps even to a GORBALS Garage standard of work! No thank you! Of course I appreciate their may be the few who really do add value, but for me at least, most of them I wouldnt trust to make me a cup of Tea. |

The dealer may not get asking price.
Dealers also put on margin to cover possible comebacks which they are obliged to deal with. Something private sellers are not subject to. Back to main point, seller happy with £1k future owner willing to pay £4k, every body happy. Finally, often read our cars are under valued, by selling that cheap a club member has contributed to the situation whilst the dealer is redressing the balance. |
