With our cars getting older other models do look appealing, I'm rather partial to the Hyundai IONIQ, the Alfa is a cracking car in all fairness. if your seriously considering the Alfa make sure it has all the toys including 'blue and me'. Is keeping the ZT as well an option?

If you are going to do it - then as others have said try selling privately.. I would.. they wont give us much trade in for our cars unfortunately..

I prayed for someone to crash into me on the way to trade in my gold 75......unfortunately no-one did. Regret it to this day. Even though.....cant remember how I was going to finish that sentence.

The car will be fixed, its going into the garage tomorrow. Its not the reason i want to sell as i love the car generally and its something i have always wanted to drive, along with an Alfa Romeo which I accept may have problems. I just feel my car is feeling its age a bit, and would prefer it to go to someone who has the time and money to maintain it, I have even looked for a newer v6 in an auto but zt's are becoming increasingly hard to find in an auto thats in as good a condition as my own. Apart from the nice scuff in the front bumper that someone put on it.
If i could have two cars i would do it but parking is a nightmare where i live.. I will see how I feel after my trip to garage tomorrow, i usually end up loving her again after a long drive out |

The problem i find is that garages are increasingly refusing to even look at problems with these cars.. where i live anyway!

As said, if you do decide to move on, sell privately. Yes, it may take longer to sell but you're almost guaranteed to get more then part exchanging. And if you do sell, sell for the right reasons.

When I owned a 2.0 kv6 club saloon I did get an urge to change it for something with a bit more luxury and oomph!
So I bought my present connie tourer, a car that will never give me a desire to chang it. |

Agree with you John, a young lad down the road is "very unlucky" with his cars, every car he buys seems to break.
Could be something to do with lack of maintenance and driving them like they were stolen! I still cringe when he pulls away on a cold engine red lining it !!! |

Browsing the club today I came across this post, ‘thoughts of selling one’s Rover 75 for something else’.
I privately purchased my first and only Rover 75 conny tourer in 2005. I purchased my first car a Triumph 10 in 1952 for £45! I grew up in my Father’s garage and had so many cars over the years I can only recall some of them. They were the ones I kept for a year or two never to be forgotten. I was an apprentice but my father allowed me to buy and sell my own cars using the garages facilities. I was allowed to keep any profit I made to buy my next car. So from an early age I learnt to buy and sell my own cars. Whilst sometimes I was reluctant to part with a particular car, the price offered made my mind up. But now, I own a car that I would not be parted from at any price. Unfortunately I shall be 82yrs next birthday but hopefully even when I am not allowed to drive any more I can still keep my Rover. My advice would always be, sell private and then buy your next Rover! Hope you do not mind my reply post, but I know the 75 is something very special indeed and long may they continue to be loved by folk that know what loving cars really means. |
