He nearly died last near of pneumonia but this still surprises me.

The fact that his family are describing his death as peaceful and the police are saying there's no suspicious circumstances is indicative of a long term illness.

I'm shocked and saddened, but I suspect this is another musical genius lost to Aids or HIV.

Far too young - 53 is no age.

Remember him fronting Queen at Live Aid I think,apologies if that's incorrect, but he was brilliant . So much talent lost this year.

Nope, Freddie was still very much with us then

George Michael joined the remaining Queen members in the early 90's to play at the Freddie Mercury tribute at Wembley Stadium which is what I presume you remember seeing.
