Scrap it and buy a new car immediately if not sooner

Obviously as it's a Moonstone I was expecting all the things you mentioned
(combined HGF, fuel pump failure, flooded ECM, knackered clutch, automatic gearbox and K-Bus gone haywire).
But failed indicator bulb, no one on here warned me about that, not even an esteemed Guru such as yourself, hope you're not slipping Brian.

Never mind Alan, at least the new bulb will be orange

Still not bad going, most 75's have at least four headlight bulbs a year go fizzle pop bang off

Cool

I'm after a much sort after colour, be cheap with only a blown bulb as well. I'll up my previous offer by 2 bags of MM's and a re-cycled NLG spark plug.

I think that we are all jumping to conclusions regarding this failure of the bulb.
It might not be as serious as we think. On mine, the connector was loose and bending the electrical tab fixed it.

Don't scrap it yet until all the options have been investigated.

Speaking of all things bulbs, had a look at the original MGR indicator bulbs
and the quality of the filiments are way thicker and better than the crud that are being knocked out as cheap replacements.
Think the originals were EU made.

alanjay, I know your heart must be down in your boots at the moment but take a moment to take stock of the situation. This has up until now been a good and faithful car and it would be a shame to see another on of our esteemed marque disappear from the roads.

I think it would be worth replacing the bulb (quite an investment I know, given the value of the car) and if the worst came to the worst and your car had to be scrapped in the future, then you could always remove the bulb and fit it to your new car.

I also suggest you contact Matt (DMGRS) to see if he can help with a good deal on a suitable bulb.

Good luck my friend. Stay strong.

I think you are all missing the point here. This blown bulb is a serious road safety issue. I think we should contact the relevant authorities regarding the fit-for-purpose-ness of these cars, and whether we aren't all due compensation....
