I must admit I dont like the IR system (i'm much more of a wired up guy), but how does it work "plugged in" if my loom terminates at the IR connection?

Also, what does the mini-USB do at the front of the HU?

You must have the non IR set up for it to work simply by plugging in. The IR set up is completely different.. Think the system was designed around the later MK2 / MG7 ICE wiring.

The mini usb port on the front of the unit comes with a standard USB conversion lead to play your ipod/mp3 player. Think the new version will get the port to the rear of the unit, so you can route the lead out of sight to the glove box.

Ooooo now *that* would be useful.

It's very very hard to find a stereo where all the cables can be properly stealthed...

Time to sell a kidney then...
