I do wonder how much Redcar pier cost the town, I was surprised at how cheaply the Angel was done for £850,000, and thousands of people visit it. I guess that not so many make special pilgrimage to Redcar Pier (which has such a wonderful view of the offshore windfarm.

Don't tell everyone - they'll be flocking up here to see it
Whoops - sorry,I forgot - it's currently closed as the multi-coloured stairway around the outside is going rusty

That'll be the same offshore windfarm which has ceased operating on a number of occasions to cure 'teething troubles' - one of which was rumoured to be rusty bolts in the columns under the surface

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

It's a joke - built primarily to feed the egos of the ruling group on the Council and their leader in particular

Sounds like the Folly that is the water fountains in the town square that our council wasted countless council tax payers pounds on!

When I moved here in the early eighties there was an underground toilet block in the square, it was frequented by undesirable types and had a rather unique aroma that emitted from it.
A few years after I moved here the council decided to change the one way system in the town and at the same time closed and filled in the entrance to the underground toilets!

So a decade or so have passed and the council hatch a plan to have a water feature in the square to attract the tourists and have them all flockin back to Clacton to see this modern marvel

Seems that someone forgot about the underground toilets as half the ground collapsed when installing it and once they finally sorted that out a few months after opening it was switched off due to hygiene concerns

It was re opened with much fan fare with loads of fencing round it to stop the kids playing in the water spouts !
We wouldn't want anyone getting legionnaires disease would we
Honestly, you couldn't make this stuff up!

Still, we've had a by-election today, wonder what we might get and what might change

Grabbed this off Google:

We have a fountain in our little square too Jeff, every week end it's frothing all over the square, as the revellers fill it with washing powder
