Wow, if I was to pop out and spend that sort of money on a camera lens my next port of call would be to "testicles r us" Because that's what I would needing once the wife found out !

It may be worth checking the second hand market out, somewhere like London Camera Exhange or Wex etc do have pre owned lenses and you can get some bargains sometimes
It certainly isn't a cheap lens but it's a keeper of a lens and I'm using as my walk around lens now in preference to my 24-105L, it's a peach and I'm adjusting my photography to account for its modest wide angle and zoom range

I don't know Nikon glass well but I'm sure there are some great bargains out there to be had, good luck with whatever you get and don't forget to post up your results
