Just a note if at the end turns out to be broken wire.
From my experiance wire is broken up to 10 cm from connector (nevertheless of the side of the wire), or wire is broken on place which can be seen from outside - chafing insulation, folded wire/s for a long time or similar...

That's just what puzzles me: never ever I saw anything looking like under my bonnet.
I'm not very good in electricity but I'm not blind at all.
Bumper taken off, I closely inspected all I could saw of that devilish wire on the front side (see picture posted earlier on): all was looking clean & neat and impossible for me to see anything further because immediately the bunch of wires is efficiently protected by that large corrugated sheath that hides the whole lot. Same tidiness inside behind the panel.

It looks to me a very vicious failure. They're the worst of all when you're trying to solve any problem.

But thanks for the tip if it happens to be workable.
Maybe more of use to the mechanic than to me...

Thumbs down Back to square 2

I rest my case and I must admit that I was in the wrong.
Swapping the LSM today didn't make any improvement to my front lights and Lady Carlotta is still desperately one-eyed...
Congratulations to those who hit the nail on the head.

Hence for it's neither the LSM nor the bulb, it should be that blasted wire somewhere.
Having another close look behind the LSM nothing happens to be cut or interrupted there.
The problem isn't in the light block as well, so it's somewhere in that maze under the bonnet but where? I wasn't able to see any obvious failure...

I've sent a message to the mechanic: he will be in charge next week.
I'm fed up with that hateful niggle.

Talking So told me my mechanic...

End of dipped beam failure query today!

Both main ingredients were my absolute lack of electricity skills and lack of Rover system knowledge.
You must admit that doesn't help...

I told you that swapping dipped beam bulbs didn't do any improvement: the good right one was inoperative on the left side and the left one was again working fine on the right side.
What anybody here should have concluded? That both bulbs were OK. So assumed the mechanic when I told him the story to help him a little as I thought by mistake: it was my worst move...
But actually in the end, after taking off lots of stuff including bumper (twice) & the like, when he tested the bulb once on the right side (and working fine in the first place) then gone to the left side by my own intervention, it was dead!
Vicious bulb, vicious failure & stupid story!

However I'm deeply relieved... of a few precious notes!
The mechanic has done a good job & tested all the wired circuits, lamps & bulbs that are - as I'd told you - in perfect order, clean, neat, protected & without the slightest hint of rust.
I can drive safe but he warned me: the right bulb (once on the left side) may trick me again like its brother...

Conclusion: test anything twice at least!

Looking on the bright side at least it is sorted, and you have two bright sides again to look on.
