How strange - my profile picture is normal on my Mac but on it's side on my iPhone? Perhaps its because I had my iPhone in the car when I crashed while my Mac was safely at home!
You'll have to pop in and see me one day Mike - I work at the golf club on Aston Hill (Chiltern Forest) just up the road from Stablebridge road where I crashed. |

I am hopeful of getting her back but will find out more tomorrow if I can get out to see her.
If the insurance do write it off due to cost, can anyone advise me of the following...I have a personalised plate on it. Will I have to buy the car back to get the plate? I have new alloys on her (only 6 months old). Will I be allowed to swap these with the old ones? If the insurance pays out, who do I approach to buy the car back if I want to repair it? I've never had this sort of thing happen so I totally in the dark. |

When my old car was written off the inurance company had to issue a letter saying they had no interest in the private plate, then i could put it on retention ( cost ). If you wish to buy the car back, make it clear from the start. Once they go to a breakers yard, even though they are awaiting clearance, things go missing and bits get broken. I found it better if the car was recovered to my home and negotiations can go from there , The assessor comes around and you have a chance to talk to him as he makes his assessment.
May have changed now it was 6 year or so ago, but it's a start.

The insurance company does not own the car, they supply a service. You can have vehicles taken to where you want them. I do hope it all works out ok for you. It would be a real shame to lose your Rover.

Can I join you and Mike for a minimeet? I'm at the top of the hill in Tring. Drove back last night about midnight from Aylesbury, temp just above freezing, but snow falling onto ice/frozen snow. As you said, roads not gritted, even the main A41 bypass from Aylesbury to the M25 doesn't seem to have been done, so I don't know what roads ARE! I didn't enjoy the drive at all. (I'd kept the 75 at home, I was driving SWMBO's Clio. If for no other reason that the heater warms up quicker than the diesel............) malcolm
