Default First ever HGF

But not on a 75...or a petrol! It looks like the gasket on my diesel 45 is cream crackered as it's still overheating with a good 'stat, pressurising the expansion tank when cold and getting a regular burp of bubbles even with it fully warmed up.

My question is, has anything else likely to have gone too or should just the gasket be enough (no water in the injector bores)? How easy are they to do? I'm tempted to fix it as scrap value for the whole car is only £35, but knowing it'll need welding for the MOT I don't want to throw good money away if there's a litany of things that'll also need to be replaced. I'll re-use the timing belt as that was replaced last summer and the car has done <10K miles since.
