Default Tourer boot - remove cladding - problem and question

Hi All,

I found some rust behind the cladding of my ZT-T and wanted to remove the cladding to inspect the damage and hopefully correct it.

The cladding in question:

But I have a problem releasing one of the nuts fixing the cladding on the tailgate. It is completely rusted and the nut is not hexagonal anymore but round so no more grip.

The nut that has decided to be a pain in the ...

Location of the corroded nut:

As you can see there is very little room for big tools

I want to use a Dremel to saw/grind away the nut but that will surely damage the thread of the bolt. Since the cladding is still mounted on the tailgate I am not sure if I can replace the bolt.

Question 1
Anyone any tips how to remove the bolt without damaging the thread?
Question 2
If I do have to grind it away, will I be able to replace the bolt?

Any help greatly appreciated!
