Default Dash Cams?.

The vast majority of cameras face forward with limited views to both sides, has anyone on here used a cheap camera that can be used to look where you do when you drive, I know there are head cams that cyclists use but they can be a tad expensive.

That could get you into trouble - sunny day, warm weather, short skirts etc...
Why though?

Yeah, that would not work with me and my kids in the car.

And I would assume playback of said video would make a lot of people seasick because of the movement of the camera all over the place.

Forward view and rearward view are the most important in my opinion.....and if your really obsessive........you could set up left and right hand cams too......

But i'm not going that far.

There's plenty of good and bad examples of head mounted action cams on youtube. And yes the worst do make you skip quickly along. But if the wearer keeps in mind that they have this camera on their head and the video is edited effectively then it can make for some more interesting video: at the same time overcoming some of the disadvantage of a fixed camera (from a purely recording what's happening point of view).

I agree. If its for your own safety, the important view are in order...

1. Front
2. Rear
3. and 4 the sides.

Even with the four, you still will not have 360 degree coverage.

I have had three incidents where a camera would have been useful, my front and rear covered all of them adequately.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
