New member, a few questions

I thinking of buying a 75. In fact ive been thinking about it for 3 years now but the time has come to get rid of the Lexus LS400 and its predigious thirst.

Ive always liked the look of the 75. The traditional interior, walnut etc.
Im thinking about the CDTI in Club, Club SE or higher spec. Ive been spoilt by the luxury of the Lexus.

My budget at the moment is only about £1,000 and age isnt an issue with me.

Ive seen a 2000 "V" CDTI Club ES for £1095. 134k miles, no service history, MOT sept 2010. Its from a trade in centre. They say it needs a new battery and the electric windows master switch from the drivers door is missing. So te windows dont work.

Without any expert knowledge of 75s, i dont know if these are common faults on a 75. My worry would be 1; alternator duff, 2; that the switch has been removed to hid a bigger problem.

Your advice or views would be most appreciated and any other tips on getting a good one for the meagre budget.

Defo a good buy that one - loads of history/receipts too.

I think you would struggle to get a half decent CDTi for £1000 in my opinon.

I know your budget is about £1000
but a member has a diesel connie for £1600 which I think he is open to offers on welcome to the club anyway

Go for the car that as been a members car link above may be a bit more than what you want to spend but you will have a one hell of a car for the money. be quick should'nt think it will be around for long. ps wouldnt advice buying a 75 without service history . good luck and wellcome to the club.

My advice is to go with one of the ones off the club, it will have been looked after, also the one in the traders you are considering may be hiding a load of probs and that could cost you more than the money of the ones on here.

Thats a great looking car but it wont do much more to the gallon than my Lexus if at all.

I need a big comfy car, with all the trimmings, that will do about 45-50mpg. At pressent I average 26mpg from the Lexus. I can only justify changing to a Rover because of the fuel saving. I recom on saving £1350 pa with a CDTI.

Id happyly spend £1,600 on the other Cdti Conni but at present i just dont have the money.
