Blimey, this brings back some memories !!
Anyone who's lived in Plymouth might remember back in the late 70's or early 80's, the Plymouth store at Estover had a tyre fitting depot where the petrol station now is (the fuel used to be the other side of the exit road, where the car park now is). I remember my Dad getting a set of Michelin XZX's there for his Hillman Imp - probably worth more than the car and asking him how the paper stickers worn away off the tread ? It seemed quite logical to me at the time that if the tyre was just rotating, then there shouldn't really be any wear (I was an inquisitive, or maybe 'annoying' child...). Not entirely sure if it was a sub contractor though, like National or Kwik Fit - can anyone remember ???
